Nick Clegg launches new education policy in Islington

Bridget with Nick Clegg at New North Community SchoolLiberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg MP joined Bridget with council leader James Kempton and local teachers to launch the new Liberal Democrat education policy at New North Community School.

Under the plans, Islington schools would get an extra £6 million to spend on extra support for disadvantaged pupils.

Nick Clegg said:

“The enormous gap that still exists in Britain today between the performance of our most disadvantaged children and those from richer families is an outrage. The Liberal Democrats believe that every child should be entitled to the best possible education no matter what their background is.”

Bridget said: “Young people in Islington deserve the best start in life. That’s why I’m backing these radical plans to cut primary class sizes.”
