Liberal Democrats will cut income tax bill by £700
Thousands of people in Islington will not have to pay any income tax under new proposals by the Liberal Democrats. Thousands more will see their income tax bill slashed by £700 a year.
The plans were launched by Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg, who said that they would boost family budgets battered by rising food, power, and transport prices. The plans call for the personal tax allowance to be raised to £10,000, putting money in everyone’s pocket, and taking many out of income tax altogether.
Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Islington South and Finsbury, Bridget Fox, said: “The Lib Dems are the only party who have promised to cut taxes for ordinary people. Many Islington residents are struggling because of the recession. The Lib Dems fought to freeze Islington’s council tax, and we’ll be going into the general election committed to a lasting cut in income tax.”
