Hospital ‘race’ proves Whittington A&E is the closest option

On your marks: Bridget ready to race to the Whittington

It’s the Whittington, all the way! That was the result of the latest action by Bridget and Lib Dem campaigners fighting to save the Whittington A&E from closure.

Bridget joined Islington North Lib Dem candidate Rhodri Jamieson-Ball in a race to judge travel time to local hospitals. Rhodri headed for the Royal Free, while Bridget went to the Whittington, proving that travel times to our local hospital are significantly shorter.

Bridget says, “I got to the Whittington in 30 minutes, despite a 5 minute wait for a bus. The 20 minutes extra it would take to get to the Royal Free could mean a huge difference for someone who was injured or sick.

“The 43, 271 and 17 buses mean people from many parts of Islington can get to the Whittington quickly and easily. Timing the journeys gives us real evidence that closing the 24 hour A&E at the Whittington will have a detrimental effect on people’s lives.”

In Islington South & Finsbury

Bar chart: it's Lib Dem or Labour here

The Conservatives, Greens and UKIP can't win in Islington South. Voting for them will just help Labour to win again. Only the Lib Dems can beat Labour in our area.
